My sewing machine...My lifeline!

I'm trying out a new blog that gives suggestions on what to talk about, and today's topic is sewing machine maintenance!  I like that one.  For one thing, I actually DO it...and secondly, it means my pal/buddy/mate is all ready for me to use and hopefully will be for many years...cos I go a little stir-crazy without a chance to sew at regular intervals ;-) Anyhow, their button is at the bottom of this post, if u want to give them a look-see.

As a new patchworker, I got to know a lady who worked for Janome Machines, who also went to our group. She took all of us to task about cleaning our sewing machines (or not!).  Then she proceeded to give the entire patchwork group a basic lesson in maintenance of  sewing machines.  It's so easy!  So it's been part of my routine since the beginning...clean out the bunnies, replace the bobbin case, and fill the little hole in it with special machine lubricant.  And change needles after each project (altho I have to admit, in my case I break them on  a regular basis by forgetting to change my machine feet BEFORE beginning to zig-zag...yes, very careless of me I know...so new needles are usually at hand!).

So that's my contribution to the discussion!

Oh, and PS...Phil got the job in Bris!

Hi! I am a creative sort and at some time or other have tried out most crafts. But the one I have fallen in love with, is patchwork and quilting. Fabric is a passion with me, I often just like to stroke it as I love the feel of it on my skin. There's my son: Booboy (age 12), ,and our mad spaniel Monty living at our handmade-brick cottage at the end of the cul-de-sac. Our flood orphan, Emerald Kitty,(get it? Emerald KITTY!) has settled in with us nicely, and adores minke blankets to hide in. Recently we added two more furry cat darlings to our household, Kira The Black Ninja and Max The GingerNut. They are joined at the hip and eat, sleep, play and annoy Emmy together (also get their ears boxed by stately elder kitty together. )
